Is there anything I should be feeding my corals to improve their color? I know there is supposed to be a food you can feed fish to enhance color but haven't ever heard of anything for coral. I have a hammer and frogspawn that have lost color and the green tips on the spawn look white and the hammer is just lighter than it use to be. I only have PC lights so I don't think I've been bleaching them. I've also been giving them less time with the lights on too. The hammer has split and grows and the spawn has been growing like crazy.

Sounds like your aquarium's conditions need to be evaluated.
Please post a few pics.
Color is affected by general tank conditions. Please give us some numbers.
Third, we need to know what color of lights you have.

Same thing happened to my frogspawn and hammer. They were a deep rich green with pink tips. Then slowly over time they lost color and the tips turn white. It is known as bleaching. Check your temp in your tank. Don't trust your thermometer! Try a few different thermometers and see if they all read the same.

My thermometer I had said my tank was around 76-79 all the time. I thought, "Great, temp isn't my problem!" So I started checking my water conditions. Alkalinity was in the 7's, which is low but not enough to casue bleaching, IMO. Calcium was in the 380-450 range depending on the week. Salinity was fine also. Then one day it hit me to check the temp of my tank with other thermometers. One thermometer read 84 while mine was reading 79!!!
Confused

So long story short check your temp first. That was my problem. It has now been two months since I solved my heat problem and both corals are getting their color back!

p.s. - I agree with Mark though too. Check all parameters and then listen to him on what to do! I was just telling you what worked for me!

I agree, temperature is the first thing to look at, but since our tanks are affected by all the many variables, it's good to look at the entire picture and correct anything that is out of range.
Awaiting Toshokya's followup info...

Well I just did a WC and I'm waiting for things to settle before I start checking things but thanks for the info. I have kinda been neglecting my tank for about a month and haven't been checking all the parameters but have been doing WC's. When I was checking the water before like weekly, sometimes twice a week I was still having the same problem. All the parameters were where they were supposed to be. I think I'll check the temp with another thermometer. I'll let ya'll know what the params are later. Thanks for the info!
