Topic: Bobbit worm- ever seen one? Posted: February 23 2011 at 11:24pm |
I have. It was in our tank at work. At three feet long and about 1/2" in diameter, the bobbit worm scared the Aquatic Dreams cleaning crew pretty badly. I'll post pictures when they send them to me. We took out a bunch of live rock to find this guy with dozens of snail shells under a large piece of live rock.
I was noticing coral being eaten quite severly and a peppermint basslet died mysteriously near the rock the bobbit worm burrowed under. Snails seemed to disappear in the tank quickly, and I never could keep peppermint shrimp. Now I think I know why. Beware!

Bobbit worm in public aquarium
So Ryan at AD says it's still alive in a bucket for those who want to see it. I'll post pictures as soon as I get them. The worm in our tank was 30" long, not 36" as I had previously thought.

I seen one and I think they are disgusting. They are dangerous to fish corals and human fingers.

The tank it came out of is a 144. I can't believe it hid for so long.

yeah, now i dont want my tank anymore... haha. I just moved around my rocks and looked under my favorite one and found a worm that looked just like an earthworm. can earthworms live in salt water tanks?
