July 18 -

A couple of people requested that I keep them posted on the situation of the nudibranch. He arrived on the 14th and appears to be in good health. Since he was introduced into my tank he has not even put a dent in my flatworm population. He scours the bottom of the tank usually when the mh's are off and my dusk/dawn lights are on. He appears to be nocturnal but I'm still not sure.

Good News! I was worried that since he is a sea slug my shrimp would eat him. I was watching the tank yesterday and my cleaner shrimp picked up the nudibranch to eat him, took one taste and threw him. The nudibranch then caught some current and floated around the tank and a couple of my fish nipped at him a little but then left him alone. So I think it is safe to conclude that they don't taste good since all they do is eat planaria.

Sleeping habits: When sleeping the nudibranch acts like an osterich. It will bury it's head in the sand and let the rest of it's body just sit out in the open.

Light/Flow: When it moves around during the day time it stays in the low/moderate light sections. And it is always in very low flow areas because it weighs hardly anything so it gets blown around when in high flow areas.

Thanks for the update.  If your tank is as bad as my sump, it will take it a while before you start to notice since they are reproducing at the same time it is eating them.

It seems as though the nudibranch will move around for a day or two and then sleep for a couple of days. He is extremely slimy because when he moves around the glass you can see a slime trail for where he's been. The nudibranch has a lot of hairlike bristles off the front of his mouth and as soon as those touch a flat worm a small mouth/tongue thingy will come out and eat the flatworms.

July- 27

So I had this fear deep down that seemed inevitable, but I thought I could beat it. I woke up this morning and was looking for the nudibranch and could not find him, I looked at the filters on my maxijets and there he was stuck. I turned them off and gently removed him, but things aren't looking to good for him. You can see stuff that you shouldn't be able to. I don't think that he will live much longer

He was doing really well. He had grown probably 1/2" since I got him and was just going to town on the flat worms. I think that I just have too much current in my tank to support a small and very light creature like that. The current would blow him from one side of the tank to the other until he would finally catch a low current spot and float to the bottom. Another characteristic that I noticed was he would climb to the top of the tank looking for flatworms on the sides of the tank and when he would get the the top he would just let go curl into a ball and float around until he reached the bottom again.... RIP little nudibranch..
