What salt are you using? How often are you doing water changes?

Magnesium is one of the harder elements to increase. I dose about 50mL/week but I don't know what my current readings are. Magnesium is super hard to overdose so I don't test it as much as I should. I just know it is low when my lobos and frogspawn look a little upset.

I've been running for like 2 months , i have sps , lps , zoas and some softie , like 6 fish , but its still a very small bio load. I did a 12 gal water change 2 weeks ago and a 7 gal last weekend i have been using oceanic natural sea salt  for both . I am dosing well over 50ml ev other day (using dry mix mag ) or is ok to just let it run low as my other params are great ? btw i have a 72g bow with a 30g sump/refuge

I am gonna say you have a faulty test kit. Oceanic has a super high Mg to start with. Test a batch of recently made saltwater. Measure the salt out to 1.026 and see what Mg reading you get. It should be above 1500 and closer to 1600.

The majority of Mg test kits used in this hobby will be off by about 100ppm. Since your other params aren't jumping all over the place, I would bet that your Mg is where it needs to be.

Test kits are still off by ~100ppm in this hobby when it comes to Mg. So you are within range however you look at it.

I wouldn't worry unless your corals look bad. My LPS are the very first to show signs of low Mag.
