I was just wondering how many of us on the board live in Magna? I am going to be moving out there in less than 2 weeks and was wondering if I could come see your tanks and after mine has settled maybe buy a few frags or do some frag swapping? Let me know if any of you are interested! I'd love to get to know those of you I will be moving close to here soon. Thanks!

lol I don't mind it anymore. I grew up there for 20 years or so. With that in mind I have a question - do those of you in Magna use tap water to fill up your tank or R/O water? I would think the Magna water above anything else would be a big no no. Dead

I'm also out in Magna.  I would test the water coming out of the RO unit with a TDS to see if the filters need to be replaced first before filling the tank.
I tested the tap water out of my faucet.  The TDS reading was 232.- out of my RO unit it was 10.  Contrary to everybody's belief that Magna water is horrible.  It just has a metalic taste to the water.

Brandon you can come check out my tank anytime, just send me a PM and we can set up a time.

Here is a list of acronyms

TDS= total dissolved solids

Go to any local marine fish store and they can test it for you for free.  Like Marine-AquaticsWink

So what exactly does that test look for? I know magna water has more "stuff" in it, but are we talking the flouride that is added? The additional minerals/metals? I think I will stop at Marine-Aquatics tonight. Do I need to call ahead of time or just drop by? Does the water sample need to be immediate or can I grab it and drop by an hour or two later?

I bought the Rena Filstar x3 for my cichlid tank about a year ago and love it.  Picked it up at petsmart, just figure out what you want and do a print out showing their online price and they will match it in the store.  If your looking for something pretty cheap then check in the for sale forum for something used, these filters are still around 100 bucks with the discount.

boy it would be really cool to be able to visit each one of you. It makes it a lot easier when you're in town or very near to it. If you wouldn't mind a visit from me to see your tank, please PM me with your info/availability. I'd love to come see your tanks and swap some coral. Big%20smile
