I was told that you should have at least 1 pound of rock per gallon. on sand its up to prefrence but about 2 pounds per gallon for a good bed. I use about 1 snail per gallon. I don't like crabs at much because they eat my snails, but I use 1 crab per 2 gallons.

Here is what a customer said while on hold Oh my gosh! Did you open the door? I told you not to open the door. Dre is in here completely naked and he's got freak'n Macaroni and Cheese in his hands.
I have 300 lbs of sand in my 225 and it makes a 4" sandbed
I used to have 435 lbs of rock in the tank and thought it was a bit too much; I went down to 200 lbs now... and now I regret getting rid of the extra rock because the tank looks too "empty" now
I'd say 300 lbs of rock would be most people's preference as far as looks go...
For crabs / snails, I think 1 per gallon is a good rule; especially if they are small crabs / snails
- My Current Tank: 65g Starfire (sitting empty for 2+ years) -
how many pounds of rock and sand should you have per gallon
how many snails per gallon
how many crabs per gallon
thanks
I have only about 80lbs of rock and 200-300lbs of sand in my 120g I like to keep about 3 snails per gallon because my fish/crabs kill a lot of them (luckily I have Chad as my supplier) I hate crabs, so I have only like 15-20 in my whole tank.
I have 285 lbs in my 225g which I think is Just right. Plenty of place for coral and still alot of open room for the fish to swim.
As far as snails and crabs, I usually try to keep around 150 snails and 50-80 crabs.
Whenever the snail population starts to look thin I add a hundred or so. Same goes for crabs, but they usually last longer.
