Where should I look for some aquarium safe silicon? I live in Provo. Thanks for your help guys/gals!

Home Depot. Just make sure it says 100%pure silicone. It does not need to say aquarium on it.

I used it when I built my 300g and also used it on my sumps. I never had any problem. I even made a repair on my overflow once where I did not have the luxury to let it cure fully before it was immersed. Still no problems.

I agree with Keodog. I've used the regular 100% silicone and had no problems. I just made sure it was completely cured first.

Actually, Home Depot does carry an aquarium silicone especially designed for aquariums. It is in a blue tube and it says clearly "Aquarium Silicone" on it. Look in the paint section where all of the glue is. I used it on my tank and it works great.

I agree with KeoDog. I have always used 100% silcone with no problems. It would be interesting to see if there is a difference between the aquarium silicone and the regular - other than packaging (and price).

I too agree with Kevin. I've always used 100% clear Door and Window silicone (~$3-$4 per tube). I'd stay away from the Kitchen and Bath kind because they contain bactericides and fungicides.

All-Glass contracts out GE to make their silicon. So the Silicon I stuff they sell is the EXACT same stuff.

I may have some bad news. I went to Home Depot and looked at what they had. I saw a couple of different products that said 100% silicone. They were both made by GE. One was "Silicone 1" and the other was "Silicone 2". After comparing the quality scale boxes on the back of both products I decided that silicone 2 was better, so I bought it. I came home and made a slight modification to my tank with the sealant. Then I begin to read further on the back to see if I could find any instructions for cleanup, and I find a small section of fine print that says "Not For:" Among the items listed was aquariums! What do you guys think?

I belive that this is to promote the purchase of their "for Aquarium only" product.
I used the GE silicone II product on my sump, (glued the baffles
in a glass 20)didn't even let it cure for 24 hours, not a problem yet
and that was at least 4 months ago.

Well, I've been using my tank for almost two weeks and I haven't seen any problem yet. I'm convinced that the stuff I used will not cause any problems. Thanks for all your help guys.

I have read the same thing you are referring to, but there is silicone I and silicone II one of them (i'm not sure wich) does not list aquariums in this DO NOT USE list.

FYI - Home Depot no longer carries the Aquarium silicon. I went about a
month ago and they said they don't carry it anymore. I wish I would have
seen this post before and bought 100% silicon. Instead, I spent $6 on a little
tube at the pet store.

The disclaimer about aquarium use is there only for liability purposes. GE silicone I window and door is the right one to use.
