I have a pair of PC ballasts in a switched metal casing leftover from my old tank with absolutely no markings anywhere...neither inside nor out.  I cant remember what the wattage was on these bad boys  (its been 4 years)  and was wondering if there is some arcane way of determining the wattage.  If anyone knows how the ballasts convert power and the formula for it, I have my multimeter for readings.  Thanks in advance!

Ok yup I remembered that size is a determining factor.  My old bulbs definitely weren't 36" long, so that rules out 96w.  They werent weak either, so I suppose that means they were 55w.  I hope this logic is correct.  I am going to leave this thread up just to make sure and give someone a chance to bust me on it.  IF you do know another way to figure this out, that would also be cool to know!
