Does any one run T5 ho lighting?

What ballasts are out there that will run the t5 HO lights at optimum performace?

Will any standard ballast run these lights?  Can I buy a VHO balast and get it to work.

I know that in the past we have had discussins on this subject, it is the feet and wattage that I need to watch out for?

FOr example I want two 36" T5ho (36"  = 39 watts)  If I buy a 120 watt ballast will it do the trick?

THis statement is what worries me:

"Can I run T5 HO (High Output) lamps on this? I saw another raw ballast on another site, and it claims to 'run anything'.
A. Well, don't let all the misinformation out there confuse you. This ballast will "run" all those lamps in the question above, however, it's not recommended for T5 due to performance degradation. Sure, the AS-220 will light those lamps, but you will not get the performance out the lights that you think you are getting. Remember, if it claims to "do it all", be wary. With lighting, you should use the proper ballasts to drive the lamps they were designed for. This will give you the best possible performance for your aquarium." -

i'm running T5HOs that are part of a sun light supply complete canopy with ballast built in but ... i know that icecaps run T5HOs just fine .. you could also buy a complete SLS T5 retro kit. i would do a search on RC and post any questions before buying though... the biggest thing to look for is good reflectors that are made for T5HOs! go for the SLS reflectors.

daniel: i'm not sure if your wanting to do T5 only or T5 and MH, but if you want to swing by and checkout my tank you are more than welcome. we could even try some diff bulb combos for you to look at color. if you like a blueish look to your tank you'll like T5s ... the only bulb i dont run is a T5 actinic - i just like the blue plus better.

I just installed my 14k with my T5 setup today and it looks really sweet. I think i'm now 100% happy with the color of lighting on this tank. i currently run 4xATI blue plus, 1 ATI aqua, and 1xATI sun, and 1x250w 14k MH. the tank looks very blue, but very nice... IMHO

The display tank at Aquatica has T5HO's on it, I think that is what Shawn said the other day.
