Topic: question about using AI light on 16g tank Posted: July 02 2014 at 11:05pm |
|
Im taking down my 36g tank, and replacing it with the Innovative Marine 16g. I found one on eBay for a good deal without the 16w led lights. So I want to use my 72w AI Sol led light for it. Obviously this light is overkill for the tank. so what would you suggest I set the percentage of light at? and how slow should I acclimate light percentage, and length of time it's on per day for a new tank? thanks. also I think I might just sit the light right on the tank lid. because the only mount I found for the SOL mounts it the long way, any suggestions? I really don't want to hang from ceiling I think it will take away from the sleekness of the tank setup

16W:72W = 22% so I would start with 15% on the AI Sol, especially if the light is not raised above the tank. Hanging lights from the ceiling used to be the thing but today's lighter weight fixtures can be hung from a decorative bracket on the wall. No wall stud, no problemo. One Molly Bolt on the high side of the bracket is all it takes. Aloha

Thanks Dion. but no need for the led lights that come with the Nuvo. Since I'm taking down my 36g. I will just be using the AI SOL from that tank. trying to figure out how to make tank as sleek as possible. will either put light on some black pvc 1/8"thick x2"tall or get this mount, http://www.marinedepot.com/AquaIllumination_EXT_Tank_Mount_for_Sol_Vega_LED_Fixtures_Hanging_Kits_for_Aquarium_Light_Fixtures-AI_(AquaIllumination)-3Z39456-FILTACMOFTHK-vi.html and mount from side of stand.or perhaps this one. http://www.marinedepot.com/AquaIllumination_Rail_Kit_for_Sol_Vega_LED_Fixtures_Hanging_Kits_for_Aquarium_Light_Fixtures-AI_(AquaIllumination)-3Z42967-FILTACMOFTHK-vi.html but I cant find any pics of what It looks like sitting on a tank. what light stand would look more sleek do you guys think? I wish they made a stand for the 16 Nuvo. any suggestions on what to use for stand? I was thinking just trying to find a fish stand that will fit the tanks dimensions and compliment it.
