Welcome Lurkerz!
22lbs of rock should be fine but more would give you a bit better filtration. I would wash the old sand in clear water and put it in the new tank 2-3" deep. I would also seed it with a couple cups of live sand. You ought to be able to get some live sand here on the board for cheap or free. There are a lot of good hobbiests here on the board from your area. There has been quite a bit of live rock for sale here too.

Hey I am in Lehi so you are more than welcome to come by and check out my different tanks. I even have Utah sand and Utah rock if you want. I will sell it for very cheap as it needs to be cleaned still. I can also let you leave with a cup of sand from my tanks to help seed anything.

There are several members in Lehi. You're welcome to come check out my tanks as well and take some sand with you to seed your system. I have a 28G Nano, 55G Frag Tank and a 10G clown tank.

ok got it red sea max 34g full setup now my first newb question is circulation what is the best way to aim the outlets?oh and how much of a cleaning crew should I have

Hi Levi. My dad has a Red Sea Max up in Eagle Mountain if you would like to check out his setup. Pointing the returns is a matter of personal preference but you want to have good flow throughout the tank with a minimum of dead spots.
In my nano I point both returns slightly and toward the center of the front glass. In the cube like tank this creates a gyre with the water circling the tank in a vertical circle. You can do this in the red sea max by adding another power-head in the opposite corner form the returns. Alternatively you can point the stock returns with one pointing slightly up and toward the slightly toward the center of the tank and the other down and nearly straight. It's all a matter of preference and how your rock-work is set up. The main thing is you want good flow throughout the tank with no dead spots.
With Nano's like the RSM where both returns are on the same side of the tank I recommend an additional Powrehead in the opposite corner.
