Funny thing is, Cyanobacteria growth makes water quality pristine. It eats up any extra pollution.
Testing will show all N and P polution levels in range.
The appearance of a small patch of Cyano is actually a fairly normal
thing, but if the patch continues to grow larger it is a sign of too
much pollution and not enough biofiltration. The simplest way to stop
Cyano is to stop feeding for 5 days and feed half as much after that.
There are other things that sometimes work, like changing water flow and
lighting.
Sand bed depth, grain size and the amount of life that is allowed to
grow in the substrate also have an influence on Cyano. Feel free to post
