So what is the best brand out there reefbrite, sunbrite, ecoxotic,evilc66 par 38 etc etc etc....

I am looking at getting a blue led for "enhancement" only. But I would like it to be able to penetrate enough that I can see it threw my T5 lights. I have heard many things.. world wide corals, and vivid use sunbrite and it looks stellar. Plus with sunbrite you can pick your nanometer rating. Have also heard 470nm is the best for enhancement. But they use something along the lines of a 1 watt led, so would the 1 watts blend in so I just see the effect I want not a spotlight effect. Or will the 3watt be visible without spotlight. This is what also makes me want to go with a strip since I really only want to buy 1 since 1 24" 470nm strip light is $200..... so kinda steap but at the same time if its going to give me results and last 5+ years then I am fine with it.

Anybody with any knowledge of this please let me know

One thing I have been tempted to do since it would outpower the reef brites is to make a strip with royal blue Cree LED's

Here's an example

I love the stunner strips I have but it only makes a slight change on the tank when the other lights are on, however it is awesome when they are just on at night:)
I was looking on ebay and thinking I might get one of the cheap LED panels I had once before as it would just be for enhancement on mine as well and it was extremely blue. I would love to do LEDs but the cost just kills me:(

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/blue-cree-led-emitter-20mm-3-2-3-4v-1775

$4.11 per LED and then $15 for a standard 700ma non dimmable driver

Which equals at about the same price as a stunner strip if you are willing to DIY

Obviously, with dealextreme you would have about a 2 week wait time to actually get them, but still a pretty good deal,I might jump the gun on it after I get my new tank up and going

I would DIY, do cree 3w royal blue LEDs, running a meanwell ELN-60-48d dimmable driver.
That way you can do alot of LEDs and still have it dimmable to your liking.

I bought a led strip from bird world that has 12 blue 453 nm's. and it works great for atinics. My tank is 24" deep and it really looks good imo
The time we enjoy wasting isn't wasted time!!!!

If you want them to actually be noticeable and make a different...go with reefbrites....if you are strapped for cash and are handy, DIY Cree leds mounted on aluminum C channel....doing this myself as we speak....

you may want to check out rapidled.com or reefledlights.com....great guys and decent prices

So after talking with reefbrite. I am going to go with there LED strip. They answered all my questions, and were very helpful.

What made me decide on going with them was that they use 3 watt leds driven at 1/2 power to make the leds last. Also they use a combo of blue lights from 400nm-490nm. Plus their light puts out twice the par of a ati blue plus bulb... should be ordering in the next week or so
