Today I went to look at my tank and found that my clam was not attatched to the rock anymore and was in the sand below.  It has been in the same spot for a year.  I put him back up towards the light and he is in place for now but should I be worried that it let its foot disattatch?  Let me know you experience with this.

I would watch and see what it does. It may have decided it was time to move. Just that simple.

But here are some things to consider.

Do you feed any phyto?
Check the bottom of the clam for pyramid snails on the basal membrane.
How large is the clam?
What is the lighting in the tank? Many clams like to live on the sand, even CroceaSmile

I feed phyto twice a week.  I did not see any snails when I looked on the bottom so that is good.  It is about 2 1/2-3" long.  Lighting as of now is 192 W PC.  Friday I get the new lights.  It was up near the very surface under the PC to get enough light.  I am worried also because it seems to have lost a lot of color just within the last couple of days.  I just did a water change tonight.  Only 2 gallons and after that i put phyto in a tupperware and covered it withthe clam inside so it might feed on that if it was needed and left it closed for 30 minutes.  Hopefully it will be fine especially under the new lighting.  I will keep an eye on it.

New development today.  It looks like a sponge is coming out of the open slit on top.  Hopefully not expelling its guts.  Seems bad
