Was just at bird world the other day and on there big display tank I saw that they are using these.
 
 
Just wondering if anyone had some feedback on these.  I was thinking about tunzes on my 180 or a closed loop but these caught my interest.

I was the one who told Doug about them. I've read nothing but good about them. low voltage and keeps the heat out of the tank. You can also adjust the flow rate from 200 gal an hour to 3000 gph.  The only thing tunze has over them is they don't have a controller as of yet. But supposidly is in the works.  I had asked Doug if he could get them, and he hadn't heard of them, but now he is a supplier. He has been very happy with them and his coral are much happier now also.

I would add just one note of caution - if you have small kids.
 
The (outside) motor gets rather hot... a friend of mine had 2 on his 100g and his daughter reached up and touched one of the motors and got a small burn on her hand.
 
Other than that I have heard they pump quite well...

That's very true, good point!  You wouldn't want these where kids could reach them.

I did notice they did get rather hot on the tank at birdworld.  I was reading and they also have a safety feature that turns off when it overheats.  Reading more about the controller that is under development it can control up to 10 Ecotechs wirelessly.  Dunno how they do that but it sounds exciting I already have enough cords under my tank.

I saw a recent thread either on RC or Nano-reef and someone has a controller for them although I dont remember any details.
Difficult and special care reef inhabitants
