Alright,
Currently on my 65 gallon reef I have a lighting fixture with 1 250 watt MH, and 4 24 watt T5's. I wish the T5's had a little more power to them, but I bought the unit a while ago. Currently, the MH is a 15K bulb, the 4 T5's are actinc blues, unknown brand (the sticker disappeared and I don't remember what I bought.)
Corals range from leathers, zoa's, paly's, monties, and LPS. I want to start getting into Acros now.
I personally have found that my zoa's and leathers all do extremely well under 20K lighting, but my Monti's do not do well under just 20K. (When I used a 20K MH, I did not run my T5's.) I had pretty good growth in all softies, zoa's, and monti's with 15K setup. So I went back to 15K with supplemtal blue T5's
This is what I want to try and run:
1 20K MH, 1 ATI superblue T5, 2 ATI white bulbs (aquablue special, supposed to be 12K), and 1 of their pink/purple bulbs for color pop.
What are your thoughts on this? It kind of goes backward from the traditional 10K-15K main light and actinic supplements, to just the opposite.
Any opinion is welcome, I won't be offended.
