For those of you running ATI fixtures, Ive got a couple questions..
1. What setting do you have your fans running at? If I run them higher will that extend bulb life?
2. How far above the water line are you hanging them? Right now I have it at about 8 inches and Im using a few layers of screen material to help acclimate my corals without bleaching them.

I hear its best to keep the logo end of the bulb around 95-98 degrees for the best performance, bulb life and light output. So depending on the room temp and such, I would adjust the fan control to keep them close to that. I have only had mine for about two weeks and its about 8-9 Inches off the water, im going to see how it goes and adjust from there. Hope this helps :)

The fan speed depends on ambient temp. If the ambient temp is around 68-74F, run them at 7.5v. You could even do 9v but it might over cool them.

A simple way to check is to measure the temp of the air coming out of the fixture. It should be around 105F.

On your tank I think you will have to run that fixture around 9-10" off the surface all the time if you plan any LPS in the tank.

What is this about keeping the logo end of the bulb around 95-98 degrees? Is that really a concern? I didnt know there was a certain way to put the bulbs in the fixture.

The logo end of the bulb is where the cold spot is located. There is a cathode that regulates the internal pressure of the bulb. The higher the temp, the more pressure and worse performance.

The lower the temp, the lower the pressure and worse performance. You can overcool T5's just as easily as not cooling enough. Either will hurt bulb life and performance.

Therefore you want the cold spot (label end) to be right around 95*F. That is when the best performance and bulb life is gained.

So I should put the logo end of the bulb closer to the fans in the fixture? I have a NEP 6 Bulb fixture. There are two fans on on end of the fixture and they blow across the bulbs put the other end of the fixture when the acrylic shield is in place.

Yes I would place all of the label ends on the side where the fans are. You want to cool the cold spot.
