If you are planning on having corals then most people dont prefer wet dry filters. Also plenum plates are not very popular either.
Keep in mind there are many ways to do things. My advise on filtration is the following ( for a reef tank)
Deep send bed, lots of live rock, a good protien skimmer, a reverse day light refuguim, and ocational use of a carbon filter.
Please tell us more about what you are planning on keeping in your tank. Also more advise would be to see as many setups as you can in person. It will really help you make a good decision.

Miracle Mud:  Just a fancy and expensive refugium, imo.  The same benefits can be had without the $80 bottle of mud by just adding some sand, macro algae and lights.  A refugium ain't rocket science.

Plenum:  There are cheap ways to build plenums using light diffuser (egg crate), 1/2" pvc pipe and plastic ties.  You'll find more people here without plenums but you'll also find people using them.  Some people are fanatical about plenums and some are fanatical about deep sand beds.  You can have a successful tank using either method.

One of my 65g has a plenum in a 20g sump/refug. The other 65g has a DSB in a 29g sump/refug.

After running both I dont see a benifit to the plenum, other than it took time and effort to build. I personally would not use a plenum again.

If you want to build one I have a book that explains how to do it. Pm me and I will give you the info on the book.

I agree with PISTONFISTER. Deep send bed, lots of live rock, a good protien skimmer, a reverse day light refuguim, and ocational use of a carbon filter.

I have a plenum in my 55 gallon tank. The plenum is not a very good thing for corals. I believe it stunts the growing process of corals. I can't wait to get rid of mine.
