So what is the best protein skimmer for the money under $500? It will be on a 235 reef.

Thanks in advance.

do NOT buy a Skimz.  I bought one from Live Rock N reef and wish I had bought the Bubble Magus that Eric told me to get.  The Skimz does skim, but is very touchy/finicky.  I the for less or the same money I could have got an even bigger skimmer from Bubble Magus.

I got the Bubble Magus 9.  It has been running for about 6 months now and really love how well it is skimming.

Bang for your buck, look at Reef Octopus.  I've been really happy with mine.  That's interesting Bmac didn't like his Skimz, cause I LOVED mine I had on my 120.

Once you get into the high end protein skimmers its going to just be a matter of personal preference and footprint, space etc. I have a aqua c ev and love it.

I use the 250 - I love it. Being able to control the amount of foam in the chamber is pretty cool with the controller.  You can come take a peak at mine if you'd like. I'm just over in Centerville.

The dcs 200 is what I have. Great skimmer. I have it on my 200ish total water volume system.   You can see mine if you want in Kaysville.
