I have a Euro Reef 120 protein skimmer that I picked up used.  The pump is a Sicce PSK (old model) with a white pinwheel.  The thing has always been noisy. Lately it won't start reliably and I'm about tired of moving filter socks and spending time with my hands in the sump trying to get the impeller to start.  Plus the cord has a tear in the insulation near the motor and I patched it. So it's really time to replace it.

I've looked around a bit and can find another Sicce but don't want to have another one that's noisy or fussy about starting. I know they build a good pump, but for the price I'd like to make sure I get something quiet and reliable.

Any suggestions on a replacement and perhaps a vendor for them?  I checked my local shop and they offered to get me a low end brand of pump.  I'm open to buying local or online.

Thanks,
Fat

My reef octopus came with a Bubble Blaster pump. Only had it a lil over a month but I like it way better than atman I had on my swc. Not sure what size you would need or the cost was just a thought. GL

Its probably junk in your shaft motor area. Have you take it apart and cleaned it. The cut cord isn't good. If the pump cleans up and is better there is a shrinking product that will seal the cord.

Sounds like you have the older Psk-2500 and yes they were notorious for being loud and having start up issues. The new Sicce Psk-1000 is an awesome pump and is a direct replacement for your older Psk-2500. I have the newer Psk-1000 in stock with Venturi if you are looking for one locally. The newer pump is very quiet you can hear my skimmer if you decide to swing by.
