Added sand last night and the water is pretty cloudy. Trying to use the skimmer to pull out some of the cloudiness but it's just going bonkers.
Is using a skimmer to fix the cloudy water even a good idea?
What would be the ideal water height for the curve 9 if the water wasn't cloudy?

Skimmer won't do much for cloudiness.  Use filter pad for that.

Thanks for the reply. Ended up changing the filter sock 4 times over the course of the evening and skimmed out 10 gallons of chalky water. It's about 90% clear now after adding 180 lbs of sand last night.

One thing you can do on the curve 9 specially on a new system... is reduce its air intake a bit... unless you already have it settled down?

I think a 5/8th(not 100% sure on size) john guest fitting will lock right onto the top of the skimmers silencer, I put a john guest ball valve on mine and had to reduce the air for the first few weeks... now its wide open.  *you could also use some type of airline and just tie a loose not on it till you get the desired result

by reducing the air slightly it makes it less foamy giving you the weight of the water  to actually go out the drain on the skimmer, your welcome to come check mine out I also gate valve modded mine

Water is cleared up now Nick. I noticed you had the same skimmer today, I should have asked you for some pointers while I was there.
BTW the corals all opened up great. See you again in a few weeks I'm sure. All those corals barely put a dent in what we really need to make it look good.
