So Nick was at my house yesterday and said that he thinks I could quiet down my skimmer.  I have a beast, Orca 250, which uses an air intake venturi on a sequence dart.  The skimmer DOES have a silencer chamber on the air intake, but even with that it is super noisy.

Nick suggested using a larger tubing coming off the top.  I've played with that today, no luck.  I just sort of assumed it couldn't be quiet.  I've had the skimmer for years.  Anyway if you know of a way to silence the air intake in a skimmer let me know how.

That large silencer worked so great that I had been putting off making a smaller one. Did it today. Here it is.

It's practically silent.

Yeah, I discovered the chamber needs to be stiff. I had tried a plastic juice bottle which reverberated the sound like a drum. The three stiff tubes, two for air IN and one for air OUT to the skimmer (same tubing we use on our RO Units, except one size larger) extend deep into the chamber almost to the other end.

thats how my silencer came with my skimmer. works like a charm! dead silent for my needs. uses the same method, mark mightve gotted the tube idea from mine as it came with tubes deep in the silencer, seems like it will work on any skimmer so good luck!
