I am building my sump out of a 29 AGA tank 30x12x18.  I made the mistake of getting my acrylic cut too short.  I got some made that was 11.5" wide and it should have been 11 13/16.  I tried gluing them but it wasnt fitting.  I cut them out last night and cleaned up the tank to start over.  I got the Acrylic from Lowes it is 1/4" thick Optix 10x or something.

Here is a drawing of what I will be building tonight.  Does this look ok?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Just curious if this is your design or is it specific for your skimmer type? I will be building a sump from a 20L after Petco has their next $ per gallon sale. What skimmer will you be using? 8" is the depth that I will probably use as well. I am no expert but any reason to not have the bubble trap next to the skimmer? It may not matter much. Maybe some egg crate before the return pump if you plan on using a rufugium with chaeto. Good design I may borrow it if there is not allready a patent in place.

After looking at your design more carefully I noticed that you have an 8" baffle in the first chamber and then a 10" baffle with 1" teeth making the water level 9". This would make the water in the center chamber mix with the water in the skimmer section. Unless I am looking at the design wrong.

My idea behind that was to get the water to flow through the chaeto to pop the bubbles.  Not sure how well it is going to work out but I got everything glued together tonight.  I'll get it filled tomorrow.  Going to bed now.

I also placed another acrylic peice one inch above the first baffle to help block chaeto from floating into the skimmer section.
