Rubbish. Complete junk.

I am being serious.

I think running carbon 24/7/365 can do some harm but the good it does outweighs the bad by A LOT!

What the author didn't mention was that carbon removes the toxins that corals release. In such a small environment like we have, we can't have corals waging war or one will win and the others die. Potentially wiping out a tank and all of its inhabitants.

Is that something you want to risk?

Dosing trace elements is a great way to replace whatever carbon pulls out, if any. I have run carbon on all of my tanks over the last 4 years. I run mine 24/7 and have NEVER seen one negative effect from Carbon. I have actually seen positive results using it.

I agree 100% with Ryan. I run carbon 24/7 as well and ALWAYS notice that my tank looks way better when I put fresh carbon in once a month.
None at the moment

I always have had carbon around the house. I usually only throw it in a reactor when things are not looking that good for a few days.  Along with a water change I could not be certain if it helps anything or not, but they always come back happy.  Best use for it I have found so far is to help pull the smell out of the water while rock is curing.

I run Carbon 24/7 as well using a phosban reactor. It helps absorb territorial chemicals the corals secrete to "fight" with one another.

I went and looked at another of the articles and it confirmed to me that article was written by a freshwater hobbyist, to freshwater hobbyists.
