I need some help deciding what to do with my tank.

Four months ago we moved to a house that later we found out had been involved in a fire during its construction and we think another after that.  The home is a ramble with a basement and we set it up on the main floor.

I leveled the tank by eye when we set it up and found no issues.

About a month after the move I started to notice that it was off balance with the left front corner being the lowest.

This week my husband and I decided to tackle it and shim it this weekend.  So we started looking at it again to figure out what our game plan was and low and behold it is now lower on the right back side!

What the heck????

This kind of scares me. So now we are thinking of moving it to the basement.

The issue is.... we will be moving again in May.  That is only 4  months away.

Would you agree that we need to suck it up and move it to the basement or just leave it where is and shim it?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.  Without them I would be lost in this hobby!

If you r right and its moving like that I would move it immediately. Tanks will survive a small amount of movement but not as you describe. Panels are being pulled in many directions in the above scenario. It could make it for years or last another couple of minutes. I had a leaker. No fun at all.

I didn't know a house could move that much! Especially one built in this century.

That is my gut feeling too.  I am preppring water and spots for the big move tomorrow.

An newer house like yours will have a lot of settling for the first couple of years after construction, so it's not terribly surprising that the weight of your tank is causing it to accelerate that settling a bit.

I would also move it to the basement asap. Better safe than sorry. If you need help let me know. I also have a couple of totes that I just used to move my tank over so I could bring those by, or an extra heater/powerhead etc.

Make sure that it's completely level this time. I also have a level you could use, or you can grab them cheap at any hardware place.

I also have a big sheet of heavy duty Styrofoam insulation that is good to put under your tank between it and the stand. It allows the tank to level out with the weight of the water and minimizes pressure points.  I have a ton of it left over from my project so it's yours if you want it. Send me text or something to let me know.

The only thing I don't have is styrofoam.  I have heard about that little tip from several people recently!

I am hoping I can get the move completely done tomorrow.  I have some work to finish up in the morning and an appointment in the afternoon so it will be a tight schedule.

Luckily NO drive time!

I will text if I need anything.  Feel free to check in on me.
