I have a young (nearly 3 months) 125 gal reef tank with a 55 gal refugium.
It currently houses
some soft corals (mushrooms, leathers, zenia, zoos and whatnot)
4 blue green
4 false percula clowns
1 six line wrasse
and a derasa clam &n bsp;
I really like the clowns because they are so personable If you would be so kind could you give me your opinion as far as personability and suitablity for a younger tank on the following fish that I am considering for my tank.
bi color blenny
Neon gobies
Royal Gramma
high fin red banded goby
clown goby
If you have any other suggestions let me know

Please forgive my brashness, but I believe it would be premature to suggest any more fish for a three month old tank without knowing the way it is set up and what filtration is currently operating. How much and what kind of LR, LS, Algae, etc. Thanks,

Doesn't every tank need a Goby?
Your tank sounds cool! 125 gallons w 55 gallon fuge!
Wait! it doesn't sound cool, it sounds hot!
Since you don't have tangs, you could have some cool algae!
Welcome to WMAS!

My favorite blenny is my starry or snowflake blenny. They are soooo cool and very active. It is hard to believe that a fish has personality, but my blenny sure does.
If you haven't seen one before, this is what it looks like......

filtration and circulation I have the 55 gallon refugium 2 aquaclear 500 a smaller protien skimmer that isn't skimming anything right now as there really isn't anything to skim a 6" sand bed in the tank and the ref. only 100 lbs of live rock but I got it from a tank that had been running for about 2 years so it is well aged. as for algae I have grape calerpa, and also some mangroves in the refugium but no algae in the main tank.
I am kind of worried about blennies because I really just don't have much algae in my tank. Ive been putting extra food in my tank for the hermit crabs just to keep them alive. could I grow algae in the refugium to feed the blenny and what kind would it eat?

Fantastic. You sound like you know what you are doing. I agree the algae eating fish should wait for a bit. The world is yours, but take it slow. Even a tank that seems to be as well set up as yours needs time to adjust to increased bioloads. Have fun.
Are you planning to meet with us at the Christmas meeting?

I put a bi-color blenny in my tank about a month ago and I love him. He's got tons of personality and is very active. While watching the tank he'll stop to rest and just stare back and yawn at me. The best is when he finds a nice hole in a rock and backs into it so only his head pokes out.

with meetings I just have bum luck. in october I found out about this club like the day after the meeting. in november that was my wedding anniversary weekend. and this month it falls on my works christmas party. So I guess I'll just have to catch you guys in january. as far as fish I was just thinking about like adding a royal gramma like next week and then in like 2 or 3 weeks adding a few rainfords gobies or neon gobies.

Algae in the Refugium would not do any good for a Bicolor or Lawnmower Blenny in the main tank. How well are the Mangroves doing? Do you have Macroalgae in the Refugium?
Feeding fish food to keep Hermit Crabs alive is not a desirable thing. The tank at RISE needs Hermit Crabs. Would you mind donating some of your extras to help the children? See my last post in this thread: http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7714& get=last#88971
My comment on the fish you mentioned:
Royal Gramma (though it competes with the Six-line for food)
2+ Rainsford Gobies
Neon Goby
Is there really not much algae or are there just a lot of snails in this new 125 gal tank?
Is Coralline Algae growing at all?

the mangroves seem to be doing well but they are new additions as my Phosphate levels were starting to climb a little. I have calerpa in the refugium. I could probably donate up to a dozen hermits and some snails probably. I have about 75 astrea snails, 35 or so cerith snails(which I think are breeding), and half a dozen bumblebees. I have over 100 hermits but if I don't drop in a little supplement every now and then then I end up seeing 3 or 4 itty bitty corpses. my six line has plenty of food, if I wake up before 6 and sneek a peek at the dark tank then I can usually spot half a dozen bristle worms, legions of flatworms, and pods everywhere. There is coraline algae that is starting to grow but mainly on some big shells, on rocks and a lot where the water comes out of my filters but not on the glass at all yet

Wild caught neon's have a very poor track record.

they are itty bitty, they don't seem to be hurting anything. And my six line wrasse is slowly killing them off. He looks totally gorged all the time.
