Topic: Yellow Tangs, Tank Size? Posted: May 14 2007 at 11:46am |
So what is the minimum tank size you would put a yellow tang in? I'm just curious because I always thought a 55, but I vaguely remember two different people mentioning having them in their 29 gals (I think one was Dion, but I might be wrong...)
Thanks

I would never put a tang in anything smaller than a 75 gallon ... they love to swim and need room to do it ...

I have Dion's 29 gallon and yellow tang. Actually, his tang that we got was eating all my pom pom so I put him in another tank and got a smaller yellow tang for the 29. It is doing great. He likes to swim around with my other fish. They are always together in a little group swimming around. No complaints here!

How small is your yellow tang? I'm assuming you'll have to take it out of the 29 at some point...

29 is too small for a full grown yellow tang. 55 is pushing it, but I think that is about as small as you should go for a full grown yellow tang.

Well I think I'll hold out until I get a bigger tank (If I get the job I'm interviewing for it should be pretty soon , if not, who knows...)

I have a medium yellow tang in my 45G and a large yellow tang in my 55G. I have had them both for months and have had no problems.

I would not want to put a yellow tang in a tank smaller that a 75. However, the lovely and gracious Monica is the boss so there is a yellow tang in her 60 gallon...
