Thanks all!
Bruce, They are looking at the mysis and getting ready to feed. The tank is approx. 25 gal. I had someone cut the glass so I could get the hieght needed for breeding purposes and to fit on the side of my desk. The bed is 3 inches miricale mud with 3-4 inches oolitic sand. I did this for the benifit of the different macro's that covered the bottom in short order. The feeding station is a shell attached to pvc with a circle of plastic mesh. The mesh prevents the frozen mysis from falling to the sandbed. They are very intriguing when feeding somtimes staring at the food for quite some time. I use a turkey baster to puff some water at the food and this seems to get there attention. After 2 to 3 weeks they now swim down to the feeder when they see the baster. I am planning to paint the inside of the shell a darker color for better visibility when feeding.
Suzy, I made two attempts at raising fry using a seperate tank with circular motion with no success. Since they usually don't eat thier fry I will attempt to let the next batch fair on there own. My theory may work with the exsisting circular flow in this tank and the amount of hitches and grasses. The amount of grasses and pods in the tank should be a great natural food scource. I am planning a peppermint shrimp or two for a supplement cleanup crew and hopefully they will breed as a food scource. My rotifer tank also will supplement food at the early stage of fry developement. This time around I will add a seperate hang on tank conected to the main tank as a brine shrimp hatchery which will also add to the food scource. I am still in the experimenting stage and any thoughts are welcomed. Thanks Bob
