How can I calculate if the sump will fit through the stand?  I want to know how much opening I would need after twisting and turning to get the sump in.  I am building a new stand for my tank and the sump measures 33x15x15.  So does the front opening need to be 33?  or the side 15?  Or can I go a little smaller?

The stand will be 37.5x19.5 I figure after 2x4's the opening in the front would be 30.5.  If I need to make it a few inches bigger then I will.  Or I could add a door on the side and it could be 16 inches.

Since you are building the stand, you could wait to put on the top and build the stand around the sump.

I thought about that but if I ever needed to remove it I would be hacking up the stand.

Hmm, I was thinking I could just make the legs 34 inches.  THat would make the total stand height about 37 inches.  I think that would be very doable.  My current stand is 32 inches so it would be 5 inches taller.

Im always a fan for doors on the sides. For easy access and easy removal of sump!

It would make servicing the skimmer replacing the sock a bit easier.

I had it on a tank once and it was amazing how much easier things were! I love it! My next custom stand will have it!

My stand really doesn't have any area to put a sump in through that is any bigger than what I already have.  I am working on getting my refugium sump created in the laundry room though and just piping through the wall.
