Anyone running an HQI bulb?  I just bought an electronic ballast that will run the HQI bulb, and I am going to get one when I need to replace the current bulb.  If you are using one, I see they recommend using a UV glass.  Are you using the glass?

I have run HQI bulbs.  I didn't use the UV glass.  Everything seems to like the light.  Especially the acros.

Thanks for the tip, I do have the double ended HQI bulbs and the fixture came with a glass cover, (aqua space light) the instructions said do not run with out the lens or ultra violet light may excape from the bulbs,

Also randy from msm said it will fry any thing under them with out it.

So as usual in this hobby there are excepetions to every rule as Jake can attest.

The only thing you need to worry about if the glass isn't used is looking directly into the bulb.  This can be harmful.
