I picked this crocea up for cheap yesterday with the hope of saving him...

Recently the lighting over his tank was upgraded at the LFS which may have caused some stress. Unfortunately that's about all I know about his previous tank conditions. Also as far as I could tell he was well away from any other corals and invertebrates do I don't thing stinging was an issue. His mantle is shriveled and he looks almost as though he is starting to separate from his shell, in which case he's almost certainly doomed. Upon examining his foot/byssal threads, I could not see any damage. Last night I noticed a bristle worm inside his shell. Using a flashlight and tweezers I removed 3 bristle worms from around/under the edge of his mantle. This morning I removed another 2 from within his gills and shell. I also pulled out about 30 from my tank. I also did a freshwater dip this morning in case he is suffering from pinched mantle disease.

So basically, I'd like any advice as to what could be wrong and what to do. I don't think the bristle worms were the original problem, but rather theuve come in to clean up dead or dying bits of the clam. However, I do think he has a good chance of survival of they aren't inside of him eating him and stressing. Thanks!

I should aso point out that there was no sign of pyramid snails or any other clam parasites.

I've read that those clams need more intense lighting than any other clam.  Is it possible that he was under insufficient lighting for quite sometime before LFS upgraded his lighting.
