 Topic: drilling tank

Ok-I have the drills now where to drill? I have a 6' 125 gal. tank that I want to have a closed loop and a sump/ refugium. I have a oceans motions 4-way for a closed loop and my thinking is to drill the bottom of the rear panel towards the ends for two of the 4-way so where to drill for the other two ? I'm thinking the upper rear corners to move the surface around. Also I am thinking about the upper center for the drain to the sump, should I tee this off for the closed loop and the sump or should I drill a second hole for the closed loop? I also thought I would drill a hole to feed my three sun corals-this would feed off of a small over tank refugium, my thinking here is to lessen the chore of spot feeding the sun corals. The rock will be a suspended reef with a arch over the sun corals with a return from the refugium blowing towards the corals and set up with a timer to rest and feed them. Does this sound like this will work?One more question, how do I make sure the back is not tempered?

Are you still looking for sugestions for drilling your tank or have you already done it. I have a 125 that I drilled for a closed loop and it has worked great. I did buy the tank with the overflows already in it, but then I punched 8 holes in it for the CL. If you are still looking for ideas let me know and I can show you what I did. As far as the back being tempered, most tanks only have tempered glass on the bottom.

No- I havn't done it yet and yes I'm open to ideas on where to drill. I am hoping to drill next week but life keeps getting in the way.

Is there a way you can draw where you want to drill? Have you looked at the oceans motions forum? They have tons of pictures on the Waterpix thread. I have an 4-way on my tank and this is how I drilled it:

Here is a thread that shows what I did with my tank. If you want any more specific information about drilling just let me know. I can tell you all about how I cracked the first tank and what not to do.
I originally had plans to use an OM 4-way but I wasn't able to get my hands on one. The original idea was to use the OM on the 4 holes across the top. This would give me lots of alternating flow up high for SPS. The 2 down low would be constanly on giving a slower steady flow for LPS in the bottom of the tank. The way that I set up the plumbing, if I do get around to getting a 4-way, then I can just remove the center section of plumbing and replace it to incorporate the 4-way.

I hope so because that is what I using it for. I don't like the equipment showing if I don't have to. Also from what I am told the pump is able to pump more because the head prussure is not there' it is just moving water instead of pumping it up and over.
