Today I made a “dumb” fish mistake. I purchased a Coral Beauty Angelfish at The Aquarium while on my way home I remembered DUH Coral Beauty’s are not reef safe.  Do I dare leave it in my tank is it going to eat my feather and polyps orf should I trade it at another store?  Any help would be appreciated!

jbruse, IMO, Coral Beauty Angelfish are reef safe. There is a slight possibility that they will nip at clam mantles, but I have never experienced it. I would go ahead and put it in. How big is the tank? Is it ready for that fish? Call me if I can help.

Almost everyone will tell you they are reef safe, including me.  I think they are a perfect reef fish and you shouldn't worry at all.

J, they prefer the soft algae that you have growing on the rock. Any stories about them picking at anything else were from tanks with insufficient soft algae. Did you also get a Tang or other algae eater? Have you found a place for the gorgonian and has it shown any polyps yet?
I hope you are able to save that decorative red macroalgae

Has your son thrown any more coins in the fountain? Ya gotta lov'em.

Nope no other algae eater's, I know it may sound stupid but I don't like to add more than 1 fish a week.

Yes I found a great place up on the rock but I think he is getting to much light now.  Kinda hung over and droopy looking. And no, no polyps yet. (I will move him back near the bottom tomorrow if he isn't looking any better.)

I have had a CB in my tank for about 8 months- have 5 Feather Dusters, a red Duster Cluster colony, and about eight different color morphs of Zoanthids.  I have never observed the CB nipping or any noticable loss of any of the mentioned inverts.  Now my Decorater Crab is another matter.  He about wiped out my Yellow Polyp colony.  What it did not wear has been flaoting around the tank.  The CB has been a great addition.

My CB is a great addition to my tank.  It had a few problems with a fungus when I first got it  but is fine now.  I also added a flame angle at the same time.  The flame  chases the CB around the tank.  They race in and out of the rocks together all the time.  I don't see them bothering any of the corals I have  I think they are both great fish
