No that's real i went to wetwebmedia.com and i searched for linkias and i went into this page where it showed pics of all kinds of starfish. The real name is called Phataria unifascialis,
Well I am HAPPY to say Mr. Petersen you are dead wrong.
Exception proves the rule. He did not say all, he said most. From
everything I have seen IME I agree with him that most starfish do not
live long in home aquariums. Some species are easier to keep then
others, such as the linka's Connie has experience with, but many are
very challenging to keep as most hobbyist are incapable of
supplementing there diets correctly. I'm not knocking anyone, feeding
the more exotic starfish is an ordeal.

lil man your tank is way too young to try a linkia of any kind. try in at least 6 months or so. from what i understand most starfish eat small clams and garbage. go read mark's post entitled "The Myth of Responsible Reefkeeping" there is a huge post about starfish there.
They seem to forage for stuff on LR. Many Stars eat bivalves. Clams and mollusks are plentiful in the ocean but don't do well in reef tanks - too clean.
There are some Stars that can be fed by hand and can live long lives in our care. But most of them are also not reef safe, meaning that they eat the stuff we like to keep.
Stars are quite sensitive to changes in salinity and they need proper levels of Alk and Ca.
KevinF, Thanks for noticing what I really said.
