Cool Touch Lighting

Dual 250 Watt Metal Halide and 140 Watt VHO

Aquarium 48" RETROFIT Light

or

Cool Touch Lighting

Dual 175 Watt Metal Halide and 110 Watt VHO

Aquarium 48" RETROFIT Light

which one of these light kits should i choose, i plan on starting my 55gal reef tank backup again and this time i'm going with a mh/vho combo instead of the standard aquarium lights i bought from my local pet shop that i was using for a short time. don't mean to be rude but i would like an answer soon as  they'll be selling out in no time, one is going for 200.00, the other for 300.00, at these prices there won't be that many left.

I would go for the 250's. If you're going to grow SPS, the more light the better.

Where are they selling for those prices??

Your right about the lights but it looks like it's only the MH that are not included, the vho are, so it says on the item discription, anyway i still think it may be a good deal, does anyone agree or disagree, please any and every input will be appriciated, been staring at an empty tank for two years now and i can't wait to get started again, thank you.

The balasts are made by advance. They have been ligthing mh/vho bulbs for a very long time. the big factor is the power consumption. Some are duel voltage. Witch usually lowers their efficienty. some are noisy. Some only light certain bulbs. so be careful what you by. Most of what you by from cooltouch can be bought from any lighting distributer. For less than half the price. if you know what you are looking for

I have the Cool touch dual 250 watt ballast on my 70 gallon and I love it! I have only been using it for a few months but it seems to do what it is supposed to, and cool touch people are great too. I bought mine with a reflector for $210 and that includes shipping(I think). Personally, when I was looking for a ballast they sold the cheepest premade ballasts and I don't think I would have saved any money by making it myself. Tell us what you end up doing.
