Does anyone own an ATi dimmable fixture? I have the 24" 8 bulb dimmable and I am wondering if the dimming makes the bulbs burn out faster? I have only used them for less than 4 months and two have burned out already...

I've read multiple posts on different forums that say they do and they have experienced the same thing you have. I'm  of the opinion that fluorescent bulbs were not designed to be dimmed.

Ah, the joys of our very inexpensive hobby. Just need to sell a sump, a tank and some live rock and you should be covered.

Ati states to not dim new bulbs for a certain period of time (break in period)... dont know if you did that or not.

I have the same fixture 8x24" dimmable. My fixture is only a month old but from what I found was that people reported the dimming feature wearing out their bulbs at the 8-9 month range vs the 12+ range. What is your current lighting schedule(ramp up/down)?

I think that the breakin period for new bulbs was 50 hours of non-dimming.

Yeah I actually had them at 100% for quite awhile because my tank was so deep. Maybe I changed it to dim before the break in period. I think honestly there may be something wrong with my light seems I was having problems with 2 bulbs that are on different channels when it was over my big tank like they would randomly shut off over the last month or so but now the two that have gone out are two completely different bulbs and the two that were having issues seem to be running fine...

Oh I'm good but thank you. This 8 bulb fixture I'm sure is overkill for my tank now lol
