Wherever there is room to use a float switch, that is what I use. Why?
Because float switches do not depend on electricity and rather than fail they only begin to wear out. What does that mean?
The valve takes an increasing amount of pressure to hold back the stream of top-off water. This is easily visible over weeks and months as the static "running level" of the water rises slightly above it's mark.
IME, for safety, simple devices are better than complicated devices. KISS
