I recently had to do a "hurricane" on my refugium because it was overrun by hair algae. I knew my fuge lights needed replacement, but just kept putting it off. I had rigged up 2 24" T12 VHO's that had been used on a previous tank. While searching for a good deal online I ran across a couple of LED grow lights normally used for small greenhouses (and probably very popular now in Colorado). The one I bought is from LEDwholsalers.com and is a 14 watt 12 X 12 fixture with 250 LED's (half blue 465nm and half white 7000K). It arrived yesterday and I installed it so I'll be seeing how it does. From what I can tell, it should work really well, and save me a lot of money from bulb replacement since this fixture cost about $45 and each bulb is around $20 every year. I'll try to keep you updated on how it does.
Here is a photo of the light installed over my refugium.
