Im setting up a new system and was going to run the water supply from the RODI into a 10 gallon holding tank and then use one of those aqua lifter pumps for top off. Then I got thinking.... Hmmm can I not use a holding tank and just run my RODI line directly to my sump using a float valve to shut it off? Or am I just asking for trouble?

Oh ya you can do that... you just have to keep an eye on the ffloat for when it gets dirty and replace it every so often when you don't feel safe anymore. Connie, runs one and I think she replaces hers once a year could be wrong on that though

I run my ato that way and have no problem. The only thing I don't like is, your option of dosing through it isn't there with running it that way.

Does the RODI unit continue to make waste water when you block the good water with the float valve?

Yes the waste will continue running unless you buy the kit that has a auto stop (BRS sells a whole kit with float valve, inline check and the auto, waste water, stop. for about 25.00) that is how im going to set up my new tank
