So while at the Home Depot yesterday buying supplies to plumb the new 111 Gallon NPS Tank, and re-plumb my 180G Reef I bought a couple solar path stake lights.... And no not for the yard LOL.  Last year I bought one to "test" out as a DIY lunar light. Now that a year later it's still working I decided to implement it on my 180 Reef. So I set to siliconing all openings in the light to keep moisture and corrosion out. Then after drying I set them on the top of the tank to charge under my T5's. Now tonight here is the result for the staggering cost of $7

They are a little brighter in person, but this was the best pic I could get without going to like a 4 sec shutterspeed. Not bad for no tripod lol

Before mounting to the screen tops

I glued them to the corners with just a dab of silicone underneath. That way if I ever need to get them off I can cut away the silicone, but it doesn't show any while mounted.

All mounted and charging.

Hope this helps Big smile

Just be sure to close up ALL openings with silicone to keep moisture out. Other than that you're good to go! Sure beats spending $60-80 on lunar pods.

Oh and they are white. I'm not a big fan of the blue moonlights.... because well, the moon just isn't blue.

That is also a good idea. I like these just because I don't need a timer (they come on automatically when lights go out), they are uber cheap ($6 total for the whole thing) and they use no house electricity because they are charged with solar panels on the top by my T5's all day
