No Wink Glass does not only cause a gas problem it also keeps in heat and can cause issues with light when they start to salt over on the inside. Ive seen many many tanks with problems  clear up with the removal of the glass tops.

I agree mostly with Dion and somewhat with Shane. In order to get good gas exchange with a covered tank and the sump open then you would need a very large sump and good surface disturbance of the water.

I agree with what has been said, but I have seen a glass-topped tank work just fine. It was a fish-only tank and had a sump for gas exchange.

Ok so when i take my lids off what should i notice?? More activity in fish i'm guessing?

Dion- It is kinda of a pain i take my lids off and scrub them once a week to keep them from "clouding" but they are still not perfect!

I'll take them off and see what happens!

Other than the chance of fish jumping you wont regret it.

Thumbs Up
Maximize gas exchange for a healthy tank.
This includes the direction of water movement. Water moving quickly from the bottom (lowest pH) to the surface (highest pH) is best.

The result is less stress, less chance of sickness in fish, better growth, better expansion in coral, better algae and bacterial growth which reduces N compounds.  Everything does better when the pH is made higher by maximizing gas exchange.

May I come see your tank in the next few days?
