I just stole a black sun coral [ price so cheap I had to buy], my question is do I place this in front of my return? My return is on a swid so it is on/off every 30 seconds or so. Also I had good luck with a sun coral a few years ago by feeding with brine shimp, is there something better or easier to feed this one ? It was feeding within 30 min. of putting in the tank.

Constant laminar flow and placed in the shade would be my choice.

Are you talking black sun polyps? I have them right in the front of my
tank, full light, and feed them whatever happens to be in my turkey
baster at the moment: mysis or brine shrimp, cyclopeeze, whatever. They
also seem to appreciate a good detritus storm once in a while!

Thanks for the replies! This is what I was looking for, [a reply from the sun-coral queen] I was wondering about the cyclopeeze. I have some and they seemed to go for it, but i didn't see them close around it like my old ones did around the brineshrimp. My blacks are just smaller then your photo of your black one. Thanks to you both for the replies!

Suzy, what lighting is over those and what depth? They appear to be right next to the yellow Sun Polyps.

VHO and around 16 inches? They are next to yellow and orange. I do have
them up a bit higher, maybe mid tank, on the other side.

I really think they have no issue with light. In the wild, they are in the dark
so they can catch stuff unaware! They don't have to be so sneaky in our
tanks.
