Topic: Wandering anemones Posted: December 01 2010 at 11:36pm |
Oh how I forget the trouble with wondering anemones. It's been a long time since one has caused problems, but this week it looks like my massive long tentacle decided to kill off my clam bed. Came home from work one day and there he was sitting on the clams. I quickly moved the clams but they are not looking good.
Just a reminder that anemones can wonder one day, and when they do... Well it will suck.

Mind havent wonder eversince i upgraded the tank they seem pretty happy, the last time they move it was due too massive sandstorm i cause where they were and started moving. Yes anemones arent really reef safe as Hervibores are safe to corals, we better be prepare to move corals specially SPS

Mine don't tend to wander unless I disturb them. They are pretty content in their place :). I do hate when they start to wander. Pam

One more reason why I've never had one in a tank. Clowns will host in many other things.

yea I've had 2 anemones and they both wandered into my powerheads and shredded themselves. Both times it has been while I've been on vacation!! Do they know when I'm not there and then decide to off themselves? No more anemones for me either...I think.

We love anemones so much that we decided to dedicate this 55 gallon that we have to a anemone tank. Dans tank in West Valley is unbelievably cool! He has one side that is literally all RBTA that is amazing!

Adam, that's the LTA you got from Ross, right? That's sad. The clams may look bad for a few weeks but could still pull through. I'm rooting for them. Clean the water real good with AC and give them gallons of phyto. That should help.

I like to call it "walk about". It seems like a "walk about" has more of a purpose as opposed to "wandering".
Hope your clams survive.

Can Anemones live on the sand? My RBA moved to the sand in the back of my tank last night.

Yep, most likely his foot will go all the way down and attach to the bottom glass. Good chances he'll be there for a long time.
ps- tell Katrina I said hi.... I'm sure she doesn't remember me

Speaking of Anemones... Adam, do you still want some RBTA's after this experience?
