Topic: 3 days growth Posted: June 08 2005 at 8:16pm |
It is a little crazy but I took these pictures 3 days apart and you can see that where it was fragged it has grown closer to the rock over the 3 days. I was surprised I could see a difference after 3 days; maybe I'm crazy, tell me if they look the same to you.

that is cool that is what I did with one of my frags from the wmas frag
thing. I watched it and it was like I could see it every day get a little closer
and then start to spread onto the rock. it was cool. I am guessing they are
really good signs.

I'm with Jeff. Visible growth in three days would be awesome, but rare (even impossible??).

Im not sure its impossible. If you consider the fact that some people's coral grows an inch in a month (not mine), then 3 days is about 1/10th of a month. Therefore if growth is continuous then you would be able to see 1/10th of an inch of growth in 3 days. That picture shows potentially less than 1/10th of an inch of growth.
Another thing, I think that my coral sometimes grows in spurts. I look at my tank everyday and there are somedays when I notice a change in the coral. It looks bigger, or one branch looks longer. It is possible that I just haven't noticed, or that my eyes are deciving me, but it also seems possible that it grew enough to notice in a short period of time (a day or two).
This is all just my opinion not based on any fact, but I still think noticable growth in 3 days is very possible.

I have heard reports of an inch a month, but I've always been skeptical. If you're getting that kind of growth, please share your secrets. Even the corals Walt showed in his videos had less growth than that.

I don't believe believe Corals can grow an inch in 1 month! Maybe ugly ones but who would want them?
