For anyone that wants to increase the diversity of microbial life and bugs in their aquarium. Bring a couple cups of your LS to mix and share. If you don't yet have LS, this is your chance to get some to seed your new tank. Bring some of the sand you have, even if it is just clean and dry and we will mix it in so that everyone goes home with as much sand as they brought.
Please do not bring sand from a tank that has red/brown flatworms, fuzzy red algae or Aiptasia. The only problems that can ever come from this activity are the sharing of these pests. I will be checking for evidence of pests.
There will be many that say not to do this sand swap, but in all earnestness I say to them, we have been swapping LS almost since the clubs formation and have never had a problem. Besides, we know how to eradicate these pests, so there is nothing to worry about. The need for diversity is way more valuable than any Aiptasia that can be easily picked out of the sand.
