I am planning on getting a 150g tall tank that is about 30 inches tall.  What do you guys think about 2 of these pendants in a canopy?  I would like to get some clams on the sand bed, think this would do the trick?

Here's a much better deal:

1) Join the Club. Best $24 (per year) you'll ever spend... PLUS, as a Paid Member you can get in on this great lighting deal from IceCap and Anthonly Calfo:

2) (Read below...taken from the "Paid Members" Forum - I copied / pasted the post since a link wouldn't work for a "guest") For a 150T, I'd go w/ 2 of the 400w pendants... the pendant, the ballast and a400w  14K bulb - so you wouldn't need any actinic lighting - total only $282; that's $130 less per pendant, or a $260 savings compared to buying 2 of the lights you posted up. With 400w, even SPS and clams on the sandbed will be no problem...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I agreed that this deal would be extended ONLY to Paid Members. To take advantage of this special offer, just print and complete the attached order form and bring it with you to the December meeting.  If you cannot attend the Dec meeting, you will need to complete the form and fax it to me before the meeting. (Fax: 801-625-7311) I will collect all the forms, verify membership and send the forms collectively to IceCap.  In the Reef/Club Event please write "WMAS Christmas Bash".  Sorry, but credit/debit cards are a must. I want to avoid handling any cash or checks.

Thanks for supporting the WMAS by buying a membership. Enjoy these great prices!

I would run 3 MH. Probably 250 watt or even 400 Watts each. I would run the Phoenix 14k bulbs in each one. Then I would supplement the tank with 4x36W T5's.

For the T5's I would run 2 ATI Blue Plus in the front and 2 Aquasun in the back of the MH's. You could keep whatever you wanted with that light set up. Make sure the T5's are cooled and have individual reflectors on each.

That is my 2 cents!

I think the 150 Tall is only a 4 ft long tank - so 2 MH should be sufficient - especially if he goes with 400 watters

EmbarrassedLOL

Sorry I looked at the wrong size and thought it was 6 feet. So I agree that 2 MH is enough. I would possible run 2 250W then. Still the Phoenix 14k bulbs. Then retro fit 2-4 T5's in there if you can. Each individual reflector is 2.5" for the T5, I would still run the Blue Plus bulbs and Aquablue

Since the 150g is the same foot print of the 120g and only 6" taller.  I would go with 2 250w mh with 4 54w - t5's suppliments.  I ran 2 - 400w mh with pc's as the supplimental lighting and it was way to much for the tank.  I had a very hard time keeping the tank cool and an even harder time with the placement of my corals and keeping them alive.   I had to have everything on the bottom level or lower middle of the tank to keep them from melting.  This included sps, lps, and softies.  my .02
