How much do you feed?

Thought this might be a good discussion to start.

I have a 46 gallon tank with three fish (chromis, zebra blenny, and large royal gramma), gorgonians, hard corals, and sea anemones.  Recently I switched my feeding to a different method since my fish have been looking fat and I wanted to try a different method.  My tank has been running for a long time and has a large pod population.  Also there is a refugium where I have a good amount of calerpa growing.  Along with that I have not had a skimmer on the tank from day one.  I see pods swimming in the water column sometimes at night and find them covering the glass after about 3 days along with a few random hydroid looking things.  My tank really started to bloom when I fed phyto frequently, but I was also feeding my fish every day a cube of either brine or mysis.  This started a slow increase of hair algae.  In an effort to reduce the excess nutrients I started a new way of feeding my tank.

Right now I feed phyto 1-2 times a day.  Just enough to make the water slightly green.  I always add phyto at night, but sometimes during the day.  Then once on Saturdays and Sundays I feed one cube of brine or mysis, one cube of rotifers, and phyto during the day and then phyto at night.  My pod population is still thriving and the fish still look fat.  I watch my chromis eating pods all day long in the water column too.  Also I think the hair algae is getting less nutrients as it is not spreading as much.  Also my anemones are looking much better than before and I am not target feeding them.

Side note:  I added about 15 snails, 5 hermit crab, and an emerald crab since I needed to boost my cuc a little.  Also the anemones are moving around a bit, but that probably could have been kept in check if I did target feed them.

So do you feed your fish every day?  Do you feed phyto every day?  Thoughts?  Comments?
