So my tank is pretty new been running since November. I've had a bit of cyano (red slimey stuff) but this weeks it's spread noticeably. I sucked some out with my weekly water change but doesn't seem to be enough. Plan is to keep lights off and cover tank for a few days and do water change. Any other suggestions?

Do a complete black out for 72 hours. Worked like a charm for me.

Cyano... is caused by 3 things
Wrong spectrum (bulbs too old)
Too much nutrients
Not enough water flow
If you get a handle on which or if it's all 3, it will go away. You can always mask it with chemicals or blackouts. But if the problem is not taken care of it will come back.

Water flow could be my issue I suppose. I've got a jebao pp4 and dual returns do you think I should add another powerhead facing the jebao?

I've found water movement to be the largest contributor. I've always had tanks with minimal filtration and heavy feedings, and I have only seen this become an issue in lower flow areas.

How big is your tank? I have a 60 gallon cube 2ftx2ft with only one Jebao pp8 and had to add a second one because I had the same issue. Also adding BRS GFO really seemed to knock it down with in a day it seemed to be mostly gone. Along with a 10 gallon water change. And now staying up on my water changes to (I was not doing it very often but i've now changed that.) I can say after all this there is only minor amounts left over in nooks and cracks.

My tank is only a 30L. I have done weekly water changes of 5gallons since my cycle ended

30 liters or gallons? Back off a bit on the water changes. What lights are you using?
You should only need to do 5 gallons every 2 weeks. So split it up if you need.
Sometimes water changes can hurt more then they help if you don't have your bacteria population setup yet. Let your tank "age and mature" a bit.

Sorry 30gallons. I'm planning on every other week from now on. I'm using two hydra26 lights. Since I added the second it seems the algae on the glass needs cleaning more often.

That's a very long 30g, are you sure its not bigger? I have one hydra on my 60g but its only 24"

For what it's worth I have the same IM 30L and run two Kessil AW360 over it. One would have created dark areas on each side.

Yeah it's the innovative marine 30long. Believe me I would have ran just the single 26 to save on cost but it didn't give enough coverage.

Well with two of those bad boys on there, you will be never short on light. Too bad one wouldn't cut it due to the length. How have you liked the lights? I've been extremely impressed with mine, but its only been a few weeks.

Yep so far I've loved them. Much better than the vega I had just because of the terrible controller I had to use. What mounts are you using for yours?

AI just came out with a flexible arm mount (similar to the one used with the Prime) for the hydras, and I really like it. Very sleek and simple.

That's what I was planning on buying at first. Ended up with those other brackets they have that mount on the back glass similar to yours
