I recently noticed a few tiny white creatures in my tank. they look like tiny white pineapples. After doing a google search I found out that they were a type of sponge called pineapple sponges. From what I read they seem to be innocuous filter feeders. Does anyone have these in their tank? Any thoughts on these sponges?

I had them in my sump when my tank was new. Nothing to be worried about and they will go away with time.

They are awesome, but difficult to keep long term. Unfortunately fragile, and tasty.

Pineapple Sponge in the Scypha Sponge family, a calcareous sponge that eats Alk, Ca, Si, and filter feeds plankton, helping keep the tank clean. Watch your Alk and Ca levels. Smile
