I bought a used 125. The tank was filled and tested for leaks. I did not find any leaks or any signs of leaks. But the only thing the concerns me is the the Silicon around some of the corners seems old and not sure if it will hold for a long time. So I'm considering revealing the interior seams. I plan on scrapping the Silicon off and making sure everything is off. Use tape to make sure I have even straight seems. And using GE silicon 1.
I'm wondering if anyone has ever done this and have any tips for me?

The bottom silicone seems in great condition. But im assuming I will have to redo the whole thing anyways right?

New sealant will not stick to old sealant, so you will to scrape everything down to the glass.

GE silicone 1 is fine but RTV 100 series is much stronger and (in my opinion) a bit easier to work with. RTV can be purchased from grainger or other industrial supply type stores.

RTV 103 (Black)

RTV 108 (Clear)

We use this stuff at work to bond aircraft transparencies (canopies) which fly at mock 3... its pretty strong stuff.

Its also the same stuff they use to bond your windshield to your car.
